Since his arrival in Los Angeles, CA late last year, visionary solo artist Jay Terrien (Bass, Viola, Composition, Orchestration) has been tirelessly working at a frenetic pace within the industry.  As a well-respected performer, composer, string arranger, and commercial supporter of many distinguished musical gear manufacturers, Terrien is busy working on string orchestrations for a variety of Major Label clientele as well as writing material for a new "weird bass versus bombastic drums meets cleverly Eventide Harmonizer sound prepared string quartet" recording project called "THE TWELVE". 

The tasteful usage of slippery counterpoint, gorgeous choral voicings, irregular rhythmic structures, awkward time signatures, and ambient layering gives Terrien's musical compositions their signature "textural" sound and depth.

"ALL THE DOLLS IN THE SAME PLACE", is a remarkable bass and drums ONLY "POWER DUO" instrumental album featuring stellar acoustic and electronic drum contributions from Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, X.T.C., And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Mr. Mister, etc.) and genius production and mix work by Ronan Chris Murphy (King Crimson, Ulver, Anthony Curtis (Featuring Tony Levin, Mike Keneally, Lewis Pragasam, and Jeff Gauthier), Willie Oteri, The California Guitar Trio, Steve Stevens, Terry Bozzio, etc.).

This latest slew of imaginative, edgy, and technique-laden compositions prominently feature lush, improvised fretless bass counterpoint and deft soundscape passages that collide with hybrid acoustic/electronic drums arrangements.

Terrien's signature compositions often possess alternative rock and pop genre structures strewn together with recklessly driven flamenco-based rhythmic structures, uncanny improvisational jazzscape chord textures, advanced fingerpicking, and occasions of layered ambient bass looping.  Bridging the gap between bold progressive rock nuances and sensitive film score orchestrations, Terrien's daring compositional aesthetic on this particular recording also appeals to the dramatically under-targeted "musicians" demographic which consists of proficient instrumentalists seeking tasteful, technical, and intriguing parts written for their instruments.
