JAY TERRIEN is a Los Angeles, California-based professional bassist, violist, string arranger, composer, musician contractor, and music director. Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, Terrien holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the prestigious Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Terrien also spent time studying viola and Electroacoustic composition at the University of East Anglia, in Norwich, England.

Since his arrival in Los Angeles, CA last year, TERRIEN has quickly established himself as a highly sought-after recording session multi-instrumentalist and touring musician in the Los Angeles, CA music scene. Terrien has been doing tons of live concert work on both bass and viola with some outstanding clients including writing string arrangements and playing viola with ANDY GRAMMER on The Tonight Show with JAY LENO, arranging and performing with MOBY on The Tonight Show with JAY LENO, and arranging and performing with The BoDeans at a sold-out Chicago Symphony Center.

JAY TERRIEN also played viola with RIHANNA, KANYE WEST, and DRAKE at The NBA All-Star Game at The Staples Center, toured with YouTube phenom singer-songwriter CLARA C, and played at The Key Club with Mercury Records artist JOHN WEST. Additional collaborators include CONNIE LIM (emerging singer-songwriter as seen on the hit NBC TV show “THE VOICE”), CHRIS MANN (singer-songwriter on the hit NBC TV show “THE VOICE and FOX TV show “GLEE”, former Sony/BMG artist, toured with Grammy Award-winner India.Arie and Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel), production guru ROB WELLS (Backstreet Boys, Nick Lachey, Mika, Olivia Newton John, Cyndi Lauper, Adam Lambert, Justin Bieber, etc.), BRANDON ROGERS (AMERICAN IDOL finalist and vocalist for Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Anastacia, Usher, etc.), and ARAS BASKAUSKAS (CBS TV “SURVIVOR” Season 12 Million Dollar Winner).

In addition to his sideman work, Jay Terrien also composed and conducted punk rock string arrangements for the new album by RANCID, “Let The Dominoes Fall”, which skyrocketed to #11 on the US Billboard Top 200. He also played bass and wrote string arrangements on the record, “To Be Human” by KATHLEEN BLACKWELL. Her single “Misbehavin’” was nominated in the “Triple A” format for The Hollywood Music In Media Awards. The “To Be Human” album was also nominated for “Album Of The Year” in “Triple A” format by the LA Music Awards.

As a creatively driven music arranger and string contractor, TERRIEN focuses on satisfying the artistic wishes and business needs of the client. He has immediate access to and regularly works with the best strings, brass, pop/rock band, and orchestral players in Los Angeles whose credits include live and studio session work with Moby, Christina Aguilera, Dr. Dre, Adele, Rihanna, Kanye West, Drake, P-Diddy, Rancid, Justin Timberlake, Linda Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Penn, Andy Grammer, Jessica Simpson, Faith Evans, The Jonas Brothers, Clay Aiken, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Metallica, etc.
